GANJAMAICA ROOTZFEST CATEGORIES

The Rastafari Rootzfest™ Ganjamaica Cup™ will judge top entries from growers across Jamaica by a panel of local and international experts. The Rastafari Rootzfest™ Ganjamaica Cup™ will quantify and qualify classic traditional Jamaican ganja strains destined to become commercially successful products with the further relaxation of Jamaica's cannabis laws.

The annual festival will provide a platform for the further development of Jamaica's cannabis industry and establish a path for Jamaican farmers to access opportunities under the law. The festival will include a Reggae music concert on the first two nights and climax with the Rastafari Rootzfest™ Ganjamaica Cup™ awards ceremony on the final day. Celebrating Jamaica's historical connection to ganja and the protection of Rastafari's sacramental rights under the law.

Cannabidiol (CBD) OIL

CBD hemp oil is made from high-CBD, low-THC hemp, unlike medical marijuana products, which are usually made from plants with high concentrations of psychoactive tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Because hemp contains only trace amounts of THC, these hemp oil products are non-psychoactive. CBD Oil Cannabidiol (CBD) is just one of over 85 cannabinoids presently identified in the cannabis plant and is the second most abundant cannabinoid in marijuana after THC. In hemp, however, THC is only present in trace amounts, while CBD dominates the plant’s makeup. CBD interacts with our naturally occurring systems, but is non-psychotropic, it doesn’t cause a high. This makes it a safer, less controversial alternative, while still offering significant health benefits. https://www.medicalmarijuanainc.com/what-is-cbd-hemp-oil/

Hash

To understand what hashish is means to realize the duality that exists with the female cannabis Sativa plant. First, there is the physical structure of the plant itself, which is this rich fibrous leafy material complete with essential amino acids and a myriad of benefits. Second, you have the essence of the cannabis plant, otherwise known as trichomes, which are responsible for producing the aromatic terpenes and medicinal cannabinoids that facilitate our therapeutic experiences. Hashish is the moment at which the essence of cannabis (the trichomes) parts ways with the plant material itself. This is achieved when the ripe and resinous gland heads that line the surface of female cannabis plants are separated and collected. Processes to achieve resin separation have been practiced for centuries; however, the rapid rise of cannabis legalization in the western world has brought new methods in hash preparation that are sweeping legal markets by storm. https://www.leafly.com/news/cannabis-101/what-is-hashish

THE JUDGING PROCESS: HOW IT WORKS
The Ganjamaica Cup is in its inauguration year and we are still refining our processes. For this year’s competition, Qualitative scores account for 40 percent of the total score. The participating judges will provide their expert professional evaluation on each entry and provide a score from 1-20 whereby 20 is the highest. Judges are not provided with identifiable information about the entry, as such the judges will provide their scores on each entry unanimously.
Quantitative score will account for the other 60 percent of the total score. This score sheet measures scientific data obtained from laboratory testing. The scores assigned is done by the Ganjamaica Cup Committee based solely on the results obtained.

Qualitative scores for each entry is then obtained and averaged. The Quantitative values are then assigned for a final score.
